Charleroi
Urbanism
A new hospital of no less than 145,000 m² has been built in Charleroi. The initiator is the GHDC (Grand Hôpital de Charleroi). The hospital was completed in 2024. As a result, a number of sites that previously housed operational hospitals have become available for redevelopment.
The first two sites to be considered for redevelopment are Saint-Joseph and Reine Fabiola, in the boroughs of Gilly and Montignies-sur-Sambre respectively. B-city was appointed to design the urban master plans for both of these sites. We were supported by Reservoir A and Goffart Polomé.
Reine Fabiola is a 3 ha site, Saint-Joseph a site of almost 5 ha. In both cases, a lively residential neighbourhood will be developed that will meet all contemporary sustainability standards.
