Located next to the Canal and the Abattoirs, in between the South and the West station, the site works in continuity with the urban planning of the Brussels canal area.
A feasibility study for the development of the building block was carried out at the request of the customer. The current configuration of the area is the result of a long process defined by a particular geography, socio-economic context and a long industrial history.
The project is based on the idea of reinforcing the existing situation by increasing the quality and liveability.
A green esplanade opens up the block to the neighbourhood’s residents. Different paths form a network to reduce its scale. Each block exploits green and opens private and public spaces, as well as it is deconstructed into parcels to allow different families and living typologies to coexist in uniformity, within a new identity.
